Barbara’s Back

It has been awhile since my original journal entry and I’m sure you’re wondering, What’s up? Well, at the same time that I launched my website two years ago, I also transitioned from one volunteer position to another in my quilt club.

In 2022, I became the Education Chair for Sunbonnet Sue Quilt Club of Sequim. In an attempt to offer both online and in person educational opportunities, I devoted a great deal of time and effort. It was the goal to provide a way for members to get back into the swing of things post pandemic. It began with only a few people attending in person, while learning how to reach them via Zoom!

Initially members were very hesitant to meet in person, so we offered demonstrations by member instructors while learning the ins and outs of the technology to include everyone! Then we moved on to trunk shows and classes offered by visiting instructors on Zoom. Eventually, we graduated to greater in person attendance to all classes whether local or out of town instructors. After two years, the quilt club is back to normal, very active and with many new members who appreciate all of our wonderful opportunities.

All the hard work definitely paid off for me personally. I learned so many different techniques to incorporate into my quilting. I won first place in the portrait category at our second outdoor quilt show with a collage of my dog, Domino. Lots of new ideas are inspiring me to branch out to offer interesting products in my shop and attract clientele.

To top it all off, the Sunbonnet Sue Quilt Club members honored me at the Christmas party and final business meeting of 2023 as MEMBER OF THE YEAR! I am so grateful to be part of this tremendous group of talented quilters. Now, I’m ready and excited to devote more of my time to offering others the joy of my quilts and new creations.
