Barbara began sewing as a child

Barbara was influenced by her mother Willie and aunt Cordell when they taught her Bluebird troop the skills of embroidery. Quilting was ever present with her grandmother, Mama Dee and Aunt Rosa in Big Sandy, Texas as well as her Aunt Marcell Snow in the Shady Grove and Latch communities. When her father Cliff offered to buy her a sewing machine and all the fabric she wanted as a Freshman in high school, she took him up on the offer. Her Home Economics teachers and Aunt Ida Lou encouraged and aided her sewing skills. Eventually she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Home Economics from Stephen F. Austin State University in Nacogdoches, Texas and a Masters of Home Economics Education from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. Those skills and education took her many places and provided her with a successful 41 year teaching career in Texas and Germany.

Love and use of quilts

Barbara has collected and created numerous quilts throughout the years. She uses them continuously in her home for warmth, comfort and decoration. Some are used as table toppers or even tablecloths for special occasions. Those in daily use are cared for simply by machine washing and drying. In preparation to create a quilt, she always starts by prewashing the fabrics so they can continue to be cared for easily. When each one is completed, it is given a number and name that. is put on a decorative label and handstitched onto the back of the quilt. Quilts make excellent gifts for special people. Enjoy viewing a few that have been made for teachers. There are many more!

Every quilt is designed and created with love and joy.
It is my hope that each quilted product provides comfort
and enjoyment for many years to come.
